New York, NY – Memorial Day in New York City is shaping up to be picture-perfect, with bright skies and highs in the low 70s. After a cool and breezy Saturday, drier air and sunshine will dominate, setting up a summer-like holiday on Monday before showers return next week.
According to the National Weather Service, Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 65°F and west winds gusting up to 18 mph. Conditions remain ideal into Sunday, with highs near 70°F and only a few passing clouds. Memorial Day itself is expected to top out around 73°F under clear skies—prime weather for barbecues, beach trips, and parades across all five boroughs.
If you’re driving along the FDR or heading out of the city via I-95 or the Long Island Expressway, expect smooth conditions and great visibility through Monday night. But don’t let your guard down. A 30 percent chance of rain moves in Tuesday afternoon, with additional showers likely Tuesday night into Wednesday. Highs will dip slightly to the upper 60s, and overnight lows could fall into the upper 50s—chilly for late May.
Looking ahead, the chance of showers lingers through Thursday, but another warm-up could be in store by late week.
