Rensselaer, NY – A damp midweek start will soon give way to bright fall sunshine as New York heads into a cooler stretch. Commuters and homeowners should prepare for wet roads Wednesday morning and potential frost by Friday morning as temperatures dip sharply.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, steady rain will move through the region early Wednesday, tapering off by midday. By Thursday, a brisk north wind will usher in drier, much cooler air. Highs will hover near 57°F Thursday and barely reach the low 60s Friday. Gardeners and fall festival organizers should watch for frost potential Friday morning, especially in low-lying rural areas.

Thursday and Friday will bring classic fall conditions — crisp air, clear skies, and a perfect setup for pumpkin picking or leaf-viewing trips along U.S. Route 9 and I-90. Winds will remain moderate at 10–15 mph but could gust higher near Albany and Troy.

Looking ahead, the weekend promises plenty of sunshine. Saturday and Sunday highs will climb back into the upper 60s, offering ideal weather for outdoor events and early Halloween decorating.
