Albany, N.Y. – Temperatures across eastern New York and much of New England are expected to rise above seasonal averages next week, bringing an early taste of summer heat between June 10 and 16.

According to the latest 8–14 Day Outlook from the Climate Prediction Center, much of the Northeast—including Albany, Burlington, and Portland—falls within a zone with a 50–60% probability of above-normal temperatures. This warming trend follows a relatively mild start to June, signaling a shift toward hotter, drier conditions across the region.

Cities like Boston and Hartford could see highs pushing into the upper 80s by midweek, with limited overnight cooling. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and ensure pets and vulnerable individuals remain cool. Public health agencies may issue heat advisories if thresholds are met.

Across New England, this warming aligns with a near-normal precipitation outlook, meaning relief from rainfall may be limited. This combination could increase the risk of dry ground conditions and localized fire weather concerns, especially in inland areas of New Hampshire and western Massachusetts.

The heat is expected to linger through Father’s Day weekend. Updated advisories will be issued if temperature thresholds are exceeded.
