NEW ORLEANS, La. – Showers are likely to linger across the New Orleans metro area overnight, bringing muggy conditions and occasional rumbles of thunder before clearer skies return midweek. Residents can expect a few more rounds of scattered storms Monday and Tuesday before sunshine and drier air settle in by Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, rainfall amounts will remain light, with less than a tenth of an inch expected overnight. Thunderstorms could redevelop late Monday morning, with highs near 86°F and a 40% chance of rain. Winds will stay out of the southeast at 5 to 10 mph, keeping humidity high through early Tuesday.

By Wednesday, skies turn mostly sunny as northeast winds usher in slightly drier air. Highs will reach the upper 80s, but humidity levels will drop enough to make conditions feel more comfortable across Jefferson Parish and the West Bank.

Drivers should watch for slick roads early in the week, particularly during the Monday morning commute, and keep an umbrella handy until storms taper off by Tuesday night.

The rest of the week looks calm and warm, with sunshine dominating and temperatures hovering around the mid-80s through the weekend.
