NEW ORLEANS, La. – Golden sunlight will spill over the Mississippi River this Tuesday morning as New Orleans slides into another calm, warm fall day. The Crescent City remains locked in a dry, steady pattern through Thursday, but a subtle change in Gulf moisture late week may bring scattered showers by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, skies stay mostly clear through Thursday with highs near 80 to 82 degrees. Light winds shift from north to east midweek, keeping humidity low and air quality comfortable. It’s ideal weather for outdoor work, early decorating, and cleanup ahead of Halloween events. Breezes increase slightly Wednesday afternoon, with occasional gusts up to 20 mph along Lake Pontchartrain and near I-10 bridges.

The air grows stickier by Friday night as southerly winds return off the Gulf. This will build clouds and raise rain chances to around 30 to 40 percent by Saturday and Sunday. Any storms should remain isolated, but heavier downpours could slow afternoon travel or outdoor plans across Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines parishes.

Temperatures will hold steady through the transition, with lows in the upper 60s and highs around 82. After a string of dry days, lawns and gardens could welcome the weekend rain. For now, New Orleans enjoys one more stretch of perfect fall weather—warm days, cool mornings, and no sign yet of the first fall chill creeping southward.
