New Orleans, Louisiana – Cool and breezy conditions across the New Orleans area will transition to a significant warming trend through the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Early Tuesday morning conditions at New Orleans Lakefront Airport showed temperatures near 39°F, with north winds gusting up to 30 mph, producing a brisk feel across the metro. Despite the cool start, skies remain mostly clear and dry.

The National Weather Service reports that Tuesday will be partly sunny, becoming mostly sunny by afternoon, with highs reaching near 50°F. Winds from the north will remain gusty through midday before gradually diminishing. Tuesday night will be clear and cool, with overnight lows dropping to around 37°F.

A steady warmup begins on Wednesday, with sunny skies and highs climbing to around 58°F. Overnight lows Wednesday night will remain mild near 43°F, marking the end of any significant cold concerns.

By New Year’s Day, temperatures are forecast to reach near 66°F, with sunny skies and light winds creating favorable outdoor conditions. The warming trend continues into Friday, when highs may approach 73°F, more than 30 degrees warmer than early-week morning readings.

Late Friday, moisture increases across southeast Louisiana. A chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms is forecast Friday night, with lows near 61°F. While no severe weather is anticipated at this time, brief downpours and lightning may impact evening travel.

Conditions remain mild heading into the weekend, with highs near 71°F Saturday and continued dry periods between rain chances. Overnight lows will generally remain in the 50s.

No watches, warnings, or advisories are currently in effect for the New Orleans area. The National Weather Service indicates that widespread hazardous weather is unlikely through the upcoming weekend.
