New Orleans, LA – The Labor Day weekend in South Louisiana and South Mississippi is set to be a wet one. Very moist air will dominate the region, leading to daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms through the holiday weekend. These storms, especially prevalent in the afternoon, will keep temperatures lower, with highs around 90 degrees and lows in the mid-70s.

According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, areas near and north of Interstate 10 and 12 could see 1 to 2 inches of rain. However, southern areas, particularly those south of Lake Pontchartrain, may receive between 3 to 6 inches. Isolated spots might experience even heavier rainfall totals.

Outdoor plans may face interruptions, with stormy conditions expected to persist throughout the weekend. Residents and visitors should remain prepared for frequent showers and potential flooding. The extra clouds and rain will help keep temperatures manageable but also contribute to the likelihood of continued storm activity.
