A strong wind advisory is in effect for Albuquerque and surrounding areas, creating hazardous conditions for drivers, especially those on I-25. The advisory, active until 6 a.m. MDT today, warns of east winds up to 40 mph and gusts up to 55 mph. Motorists, particularly those in high-profile vehicles, are urged to exercise caution, as strong crosswinds are expected to impact roadways like Tramway Boulevard.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory impacts the Middle Rio Grande Valley, including Albuquerque Metro, and winds could dislodge unsecured objects and blow down tree limbs. The strongest winds are forecast near Tijeras Canyon. Residents should secure outdoor belongings and avoid parking vehicles under trees. Next week promises clearer skies, with temperatures rising near 90°F by Monday, but for today, expect continued gusts in the early morning.

Prepare for rapidly changing conditions if traveling along I-25 or adjacent roads and avoid high speeds if possible. Sunday and Monday will see calmer conditions with sunny skies and highs near 87°F, offering relief after this morning’s gusts.
