Albuquerque, NM – Bitterly cold temperatures will continue across New Mexico Thursday night, but a gradual warming trend is expected through the weekend, offering some relief. Overnight lows are forecast to drop into the teens, with wind chills dipping further, creating a risk of frostbite and hypothermia for those exposed for extended periods.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will bring sunshine and a high near 45 in Albuquerque, with warming continuing through Sunday when temperatures could reach 50 degrees. Residents should take advantage of the sunny weekend before a storm system brings rain and snow starting Tuesday.

Saturday will see increasing clouds with highs near 49, followed by mostly sunny skies Sunday, making it an ideal weekend for outdoor plans. Lows both nights will remain in the upper teens to mid-20s, reminding residents to dress in layers and protect pets and pipes from freezing conditions.

The next significant weather event arrives Monday night into Tuesday as a storm system approaches from the west. Forecasters predict widespread rain and snow across the state, with higher elevations more likely to see snow accumulation. Commuters should prepare for possible slick roads on Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly on I-40 and I-25.
