ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Warm sunshine will dominate the weekend across central New Mexico, but residents should prepare for a wet and stormy shift by Tuesday night. After days of dry skies and highs in the 80s, the National Weather Service says a series of disturbances will bring thunderstorms and cooler air early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, Saturday will see highs near 84 degrees with a slight chance of afternoon sprinkles, followed by calm and sunny conditions through Monday. Winds will increase slightly, gusting up to 30 mph Saturday afternoon before easing again Sunday.
By Tuesday, a 40 to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms moves into the metro area, with locally heavy rainfall possible. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to linger into midweek, keeping skies partly cloudy with highs dipping into the upper 70s by Wednesday.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items ahead of gusty winds and check for lightning alerts if planning outdoor activities. More updates are expected from the National Weather Service as storm chances increase through midweek.
