According to the National Weather Service (NWS), western New Mexico could see temperatures drop, accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening. The chance of precipitation is highest in cities like Gallup and Farmington, where showers could be intense.
Meanwhile, eastern New Mexico is expected to remain dry and very hot, with temperatures soaring past 100°F in some areas. Record-breaking heat is likely, particularly in cities like Roswell, which could see temperatures reaching 107°F. The extreme heat will persist through Friday, with moderate to major heat impacts forecasted across the region.
