Albuquerque, NM – Today will be hazy again with scattered showers and storms over the high terrain of western and northern New Mexico. Precipitation chances and the risk of burn scar flash flooding will increase late this week. Temperatures will also be on the rise, approaching 100° in the Albuquerque metro area by early next week.

According to the US National Weather Service Albuquerque, storms will move from the north to south at around 5-15 mph, with up to 1 inch of rain possible in the Sandia/Manzano, southern Sangre de Cristo, and southwest mountains. The highest storm coverage will be in the northern and southwestern mountains, where isolated flash flooding is possible.

Precipitation chances increase tomorrow, with storm coverage expanding across western New Mexico. Temperatures will climb above average this weekend, creating moderate heat risk concerns for locations below 6,000 feet. By Monday and Tuesday, highs are expected to approach 100° in the Albuquerque metro area.

Extended forecasts show that while precipitation chances trend higher later this week, they will decrease early next week. Locally heavier totals may exceed 3 inches in the western and northern high terrain.

Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions, take precautions against heat, and be prepared for potential flash flooding, especially in burn scar areas.
