Albuquerque, NM – A Flood Watch is in effect again today for the Ruidoso burn scars. Heat advisories are also in effect for the Albuquerque metro area and portions of the eastern plains, where temperatures will top the century mark. More hot temperatures are expected tomorrow, along with more widespread storms.

According to the US National Weather Service in Albuquerque, thunderstorms are likely on the burn scars today, with heavy rainfall very likely. Slow and erratic movement of these storms could increase the risk of flash flooding. Rainfall amounts could reach up to 6 inches in some areas, particularly around Ruidoso, between noon and 6 PM.

Temperatures across the region are forecast to remain extremely high, with Albuquerque expecting highs around 99°F today. The eastern plains, including cities like Tucumcari and Clovis, could see temperatures as high as 104°F. These conditions are expected to continue into Thursday, with only slight relief anticipated.
