Albuquerque, NM – Foggy conditions are expected to persist through late Saturday morning across much of New Mexico, gradually clearing into sunny skies. Drivers should exercise caution on major roadways like I-25, as visibility may remain low in areas of dense fog. High winds on Sunday could further disrupt travel, especially in eastern regions.
According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts may exceed 55 mph on Sunday afternoon, particularly across east-central New Mexico. Hazardous crosswinds are expected to affect north-to-south-oriented highways, making travel risky for high-profile vehicles. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind conditions.
Temperatures will warm to highs of 57°F on Saturday under mostly sunny skies, cooling to 27°F overnight. Sunday will see similar daytime temperatures, with nighttime lows dipping to 29°F under partly cloudy skies. A significant cooldown arrives mid-week, with overnight lows plunging to 17°F by Tuesday.
Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows sunny conditions through Wednesday, with highs in the 40s and 50s. However, freezing temperatures are expected to return Tuesday night, prompting precautions to protect plants, pets, and pipes.
Residents should prepare for fluctuating temperatures and strong winds by securing belongings and checking weather updates before travel. Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve this week.
