Albuquerque, NM – A wind advisory remains in effect across New Mexico, affecting the Albuquerque Metro Area, Lower Rio Grande Valley, and Upper Tularosa Valley until 10 AM MDT Saturday. The National Weather Service reports northeast winds between 30 to 40 mph, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest winds will occur near Meadow Lake, Abo Pass, White Sands Missile Range, and Carrizozo. In the Albuquerque Metro Area, winds are expected to be particularly strong in the east-side canyons. Blowing dust could reduce visibility to less than two miles at times, adding further challenges to travelers.

These gusty conditions could blow around unsecured objects and may lead to downed tree limbs. Drivers, especially those with high-profile vehicles, are urged to exercise caution, particularly on roads such as Interstate 25, where strong crosswinds are anticipated.

Residents and travelers should stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions to secure outdoor objects.
