Albuquerque, NM – A late-season winter storm will bring substantial snowfall to parts of New Mexico starting tonight. The storm is expected to create hazardous driving conditions and possible disruptions to daily life through Saturday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin accumulating in the northern mountains, near Raton Pass, and much of eastern New Mexico after 9 p.m. tonight, lasting until 6 p.m. Saturday. Areas such as Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and Albuquerque could see anywhere from 3 to 7 inches of snow, while more substantial snow amounts are possible in higher elevations.

Additionally, gusty north winds will exacerbate the conditions by blowing snow, creating reduced visibility, and leading to icy and dangerous roads across the region. This may cause travel disruptions, especially in southeast and western New Mexico, where rain and snow mix is expected. Officials are warning of tree branch damage due to the weight of the snow combined with strong winds.

Residents are urged to avoid travel if possible, stay updated on road conditions, and prepare for winter weather through the weekend.
