New Mexico – Rain and high temperatures are expected across New Mexico, impacting different regions throughout the day. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque forecasts rain will favor north central and western areas this afternoon, spreading into central and northeast areas by late afternoon and early evening.
According to the US National Weather Service, temperatures will soar into the 90s and 100s, particularly in central to eastern New Mexico. These hot temperatures are expected to persist, with more storms anticipated over western and northern New Mexico into Thursday and Friday as a moist front moves in.
Residents in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and surrounding areas should prepare for partly cloudy conditions this evening. Temperatures are predicted to reach highs of 97 degrees today, 93 degrees on Thursday, and stay in the 90s through the weekend. Rainfall will continue to affect the region, with the probability of precipitation ranging from 30% to 60% across various areas.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration highlights the risk of flash flooding, especially in regions recently scarred by wildfires. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, as storm motion could include localized flooding and erratic wind gusts up to 50 mph.
