Albuquerque, NM – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern mountains of New Mexico through 5 AM MST Friday, with 3–7 inches of snow above 8,500 feet and up to 10 inches on the highest peaks, according to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque. Slick travel is likely on mountain passes, especially where snow levels briefly drop during heavier precipitation.

At lower elevations, widespread soaking rainfall will continue through early Friday. Most areas will receive 0.1″ to 0.5″ of rain, though isolated pockets may exceed one inch. Snow levels fall to around 8,000 feet tonight.

Another Pacific storm system is forecast to impact New Mexico Saturday night through Sunday, bringing more widespread rain and additional high-elevation snowfall. Precipitation totals of 0.1″ to 0.5″ are again likely, with several areas showing high probabilities of exceeding 0.25″. Mountain locations above 8,500 feet have elevated chances for at least one inch of snow on Sunday.

Travelers should prepare for minor disruptions on high mountain roads through the weekend.
