Albuquerque, N.M. – Blistering heat returns to central New Mexico Tuesday as temperatures in Albuquerque climb to 101°F by early afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, a high-pressure ridge will intensify through the week, pushing daytime highs above 100°F through at least Friday. Tuesday’s heat will be the first in a multi-day stretch of triple-digit temperatures across Bernalillo County and much of the Rio Grande Valley. Afternoon highs may hit 102°F by Wednesday, 104°F Thursday, and 103°F Friday.
Residents are urged to stay indoors during peak heat hours (2 to 6 p.m.), especially near I-25 and central corridors. Outdoor workers should take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged sun exposure. Pets and children should never be left in vehicles, even for short periods.
Overnight relief remains minimal, with Tuesday night lows only dropping to 68°F under mostly clear skies. While no heat advisories are active yet, conditions could meet thresholds for alerts later this week. Isolated thunderstorms may return Friday night through the weekend, offering limited relief.
