Albuquerque, NM – A security guard shot a man Tuesday evening after a confrontation at the CYFD building in Albuquerque. The New Mexico State Police are investigating the incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Indian School Road.
According to the New Mexico State Police, the security guard found Casey McCray, 36, reportedly sleeping on the property. When the guard woke him and advised him to leave for trespassing, McCray allegedly reached for bear spray from his backpack and sprayed the guard.
In response, the security guard fired his weapon, hitting McCray at least once. Officers arrived and began life-saving measures until EMS transported McCray to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition. The security guard was interviewed and released.
The investigation remains ongoing by the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau. Further details will be provided as they become available.
