Roswell, N.M. – Triple-digit temperatures are expected to scorch Roswell by Friday, with highs nearing 103°F and remaining dangerously hot through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, Roswell will see a steady climb in daytime temperatures starting Wednesday, peaking Friday and Saturday before cooling slightly early next week. The heat index could pose health risks, especially for outdoor workers, children, and the elderly.
The rising heat will push afternoon highs above 100°F, increasing the potential for heat stress, especially for those without reliable air conditioning or hydration. Officials urge residents to stay indoors during peak heat hours, wear sunscreen, and drink plenty of water.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be the hottest days, with possible impacts on local events, travel, and outdoor labor. The broader southeast New Mexico region may also see above-average temperatures, but Roswell remains the most impacted zone.
The NWS warns the heat wave could break by Monday, but residents should prepare for lingering warmth. Further advisories may be issued if conditions worsen or spread to neighboring counties.
