Albuquerque, New Mexico – New Mexico’s heat is intensifying this week as a prolonged stretch of triple-digit temperatures grips Albuquerque and surrounding areas, with highs projected to reach 102°F by Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, highs will steadily rise from 98°F Sunday to over 100°F by midweek, driven by persistent high pressure and minimal cloud cover. Overnight lows will offer little relief, staying in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Albuquerque residents can expect highs of 99°F Monday, 100°F Tuesday, and up to 102°F Thursday. Areas across Bernalillo County and the Rio Grande Valley will remain hot and dry, increasing the risk for heat-related illness, particularly for outdoor workers, elderly individuals, and those without access to cooling.

Locals are urged to limit outdoor activity between noon and 6 p.m., stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Calm winds and low humidity mean rapid dehydration is possible even without physical exertion.

The heat is expected to persist through at least Saturday, with little cloud cover and no rain chances in sight. Additional advisories may be issued if heat index levels climb or if power demand spikes.
