Albuquerque, New Mexico – Albuquerque residents can expect scorching temperatures nearing 100°F through early next week, but not before a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms rolls in Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 30% chance of storms developing after 3 p.m. Friday, with clouds increasing and highs reaching 94°F. Winds will remain calm, shifting northwest at around 5 mph later in the day. Thunderstorm chances persist until around 9 p.m. Friday night before skies clear and temperatures dip into the upper 60s.
The bigger story is the extended heat. Saturday through Wednesday will see daytime highs soaring from 97°F to as high as 101°F by midweek. Calm winds and clear skies will offer little relief, especially during overnight hours when lows remain in the mid-to-upper 60s.
Albuquerque and surrounding areas, including Bernalillo County, are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours. Residents should stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid leaving children or pets in parked vehicles.
No additional weather alerts have been issued yet, but forecasters warn that excessive heat watches may be introduced if temperatures continue trending upward.
