Albuquerque, NM – A winter weather advisory has been issued for parts of New Mexico, warning residents of snow and hazardous road conditions expected to last through Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Albuquerque, the advisory will remain in effect from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. MST on Wednesday. Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are forecast across much of the region, with higher elevations in the Southwest Mountains likely to see between 2 and 5 inches.
The advisory includes Eastern Lincoln County, San Agustin Plains and Adjacent Lowlands, De Baca County, Chaves County Plains, Southwest Chaves County, and the San Francisco River Valley. The NWS cautions that snow-packed and icy roads could significantly impact morning and evening commutes on Wednesday.
Travelers are urged to drive slowly and use extra caution, as conditions may worsen throughout the day. Up-to-date road conditions are available by dialing 511, calling 1-800-432-4269, or visiting NM Roads.
