New Lenox, IL – The Village of New Lenox will host A Pathway to Hope and Healing on Wednesday, Sept. 10, bringing residents together to raise awareness, share resources, and encourage open dialogue about suicide prevention.
According to the Village of New Lenox, the event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lions Community Center, 1 Manor Drive. The program will feature Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Marie Kress, founder of The Mental Wellness Center of Manhattan, who will discuss strategies for promoting mental wellness among adults.
Kress, who earned her Master of Science in Human Services from Capella University, has worked with clients of diverse ages and backgrounds. She specializes in diagnosing and treating a range of mental health issues, including mood, anxiety and behavioral disorders, trauma, psychosis, and personality disorders. Organizers say her presentation will focus on fostering hope, resilience, and practical approaches to supporting mental health in the community.
Following the presentation, attendees can visit resource tables, connect with local support organizations, and enjoy complimentary food in a setting designed to foster compassion and understanding.
The gathering coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day, which is observed annually to promote worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicide. Village officials emphasize that the evening is not only about learning but also about breaking the stigma that often surrounds mental health conversations.
