Pennsville Township, NJ – A wildfire in Pennsville Township, Salem County, has burned over 25 acres with no containment reported. The fire is threatening 12 structures, though no evacuations have been ordered.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service responded with fire engines and is working in unified command with Pennsville Township. Officials have not determined the cause of the fire. No roads have been closed at this time.
According to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, updates will be posted as more information becomes available. Firefighters are using containment lines and other tactics to slow the spread.
A wildfire is classified as “major†when it exceeds 100 acres. Fire containment measures indicate the percentage of the perimeter that has been controlled.
