TRENTON, N.J. – A Frost Advisory has been issued for portions of northern and central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, where temperatures are expected to dip into the low to mid-30s between 2AM and 9AM EDT Friday. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly said calm winds and clear skies will allow for patchy frost formation, especially in rural and sheltered locations.
According to the advisory, the affected area includes Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, and Mercer Counties in New Jersey, and Lehigh, Berks, Montgomery, Chester, and Bucks Counties in Pennsylvania. Cities such as Allentown, Trenton, Reading, West Chester, and Norristown could see frost on rooftops, lawns, and windshields by daybreak.
Residents should protect sensitive outdoor vegetation by covering or moving plants indoors before temperatures drop. According to agricultural officials, this could be the first frost of the season for much of the Delaware Valley, signaling the close of the growing season for unprotected crops and gardens.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time Friday morning for frost removal from windshields, particularly in low-lying or shaded areas. Sunshine will return during the day, lifting temperatures into the mid-50s to near 60°F, with another cool but dry night expected into the weekend.
