Mount Holly, New Jersey – A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday evening through Monday afternoon for large portions of New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and northeast Maryland, with heavy snow and ice expected to create dangerous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, snowfall totals between 12 and 17 inches are possible across much of central and northern New Jersey and parts of eastern Pennsylvania. Farther south, including southern New Jersey, Delaware, and portions of southeast Pennsylvania, snow accumulations between 8 and 15 inches are possible, along with ice accumulations up to one-quarter of an inch.

Forecasters say the storm may begin as snow Saturday evening, becoming heavy at times overnight and into Sunday. Mixed precipitation, including sleet or freezing rain, is possible in southern and coastal areas, increasing the risk of power outages and tree damage where ice accumulates.

Travel could become very difficult to impossible across the region. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick and hazardous, and the storm is likely to significantly impact the Monday morning commute. Even small ice accumulations could worsen travel conditions and increase the risk of downed power lines.

The watch includes major population centers such as Philadelphia, Trenton, Atlantic City, Wilmington, and surrounding suburbs, as well as inland and coastal communities.

Residents are urged to monitor forecast updates closely as details on snowfall totals and precipitation type become clearer. Officials recommend delaying non-essential travel and preparing for possible power outages by charging devices and securing essential supplies.

Commuters, students, and weekend travelers across the region should prepare now for prolonged hazardous winter weather.
