Mount Holly, NJ – A chilly but mainly dry Tuesday will give way to a wet and wintry mix tonight across parts of eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly.

According to NWS forecasters, a weak weather system will move into the region later this evening, spreading rain across much of southeast Pennsylvania, the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, and southern New Jersey. Higher elevations—including the Poconos and portions of northwest New Jersey—could see minor snow accumulation as temperatures drop overnight.

Forecasters say a light coating of snow is possible, with localized totals approaching up to one inch. While impacts are expected to remain minimal, residents traveling through Monroe County, Carbon County, Sussex County, and Warren County may encounter slick conditions late tonight into early Wednesday.

The weather system is expected to move from west to east, with precipitation clearing out by Wednesday morning. Daytime hours today will remain chilly but dry, offering a brief window of calmer weather before the rain arrives after sunset.

NWS noted that while the greatest chance for measurable snow sits in the Poconos and northwest New Jersey, a few flurries could drift farther south toward Berks County and the northern Lehigh Valley. However, accumulation in those areas is less likely.

Temperatures tonight are expected to hover near freezing in higher elevations, while areas farther south will remain warm enough to keep precipitation mainly as rain. Wednesday will bring gradual clearing with seasonable conditions returning through the remainder of the week.
