Newark, NJ – Slippery and snow-covered roads are making for a hazardous start to the weekend north of Interstate 80 in New Jersey, weather officials reported Saturday morning.

According to the US National Weather Service New York NY office, light snow accumulation has created slushy conditions on secondary and tertiary roads in northern New Jersey, the Lower Hudson Valley, and interior portions of southern Connecticut. These areas saw snow coverage overnight, with untreated roads becoming slick and difficult to navigate.

Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution when traveling, particularly on local and residential roads. While major highways may be treated, side roads and hilly areas remain problematic. Conditions are expected to gradually improve by late Saturday morning as temperatures rise slightly and crews work to clear surfaces.
