Trenton, N.J. –

A dangerous line of thunderstorms is pushing toward the Mid-Atlantic coast this evening, bringing the potential for 70 mph wind gusts and hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter across parts of New Jersey, Delaware, and the Philadelphia metro area.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until midnight Friday for Delaware, far eastern Maryland, central and southern New Jersey, and far southeastern Pennsylvania. Affected cities include Trenton, Wilmington, Atlantic City, and Philadelphia suburbs such as Cherry Hill and Bensalem.

Storms originating in south-central Pennsylvania and central Maryland are tracking eastward into a warm, unstable air mass. Residents should prepare for scattered power outages, tree damage, and brief street flooding, especially along I-95 and coastal routes.

People in the watch area should secure loose outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor local alerts. High winds and hail could impact outdoor events and air travel, with turbulence likely at regional airports.

The watch remains in effect until midnight, with further warnings possible if storms intensify. Stay tuned to local weather updates and take shelter immediately if warnings are issued.
