Mount Holly, NJ – A colder night is setting up across New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and northern Maryland, with temperatures expected to fall into the 30s by early Friday. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly reports that a west-northwest breeze and scattered cloud cover will keep the region feeling brisk through the overnight hours.
According to the NWS, lows tonight are forecast to reach the lower to mid-30s for most inland areas, including Allentown, Trenton, Philadelphia, Wilmington and Vineland. Shore communities such as Atlantic City and Cape May will stay slightly milder, with lows in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees. Readings around 41°F are expected along portions of the southern Delaware and Maryland coastline.
Temperatures will remain a little below normal through Friday, the NWS said, before a gradual warmup arrives for the weekend. Friday night will stay on the chilly side, but by Saturday afternoon, conditions will turn noticeably more mild across much of the Mid-Atlantic.
The next chance for wet weather will be Saturday evening through Sunday morning, when a weak system brings a 50% to 80% chance of rain across the region. Forecasters emphasize that this will not be a washout. Rainfall totals are projected to remain light, generally between 0.10 and 0.20 inches.
Clouds and lingering moisture early Sunday will taper off by midday, followed by improving conditions into the afternoon. The warmer trend is expected to continue into early next week as temperatures move closer to seasonal norms.
Residents across New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and northern Maryland should prepare for a cold start Friday morning and keep an eye on updated weekend forecasts as the rain window approaches.
