Newburgh, New York – Snow continues to fall across parts of the Lower Hudson Valley and northern New Jersey on Saturday, creating slick and hazardous travel conditions that are expected to persist through the afternoon hours.
According to the National Weather Service in New York, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday for western Passaic County in New Jersey and Orange and Putnam counties in New York. Snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches are expected across the advisory area, with steady snowfall at times reducing traction on untreated roads.
Communities including Newburgh, Middletown, Peekskill, Carmel, and western portions of Passaic County are seeing snow-covered streets, particularly on secondary roads, hills, and bridges. Even main travel routes may become slick during periods of heavier snowfall, making travel slower and more difficult.
Transportation officials urge drivers to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach destinations. Visibility may briefly drop during heavier snow bands, further complicating travel through the region.
Snow is expected to gradually taper later Saturday afternoon as the advisory expires, but lingering slick spots may remain into the evening hours. Motorists are encouraged to continue monitoring local road conditions and be prepared for changing travel conditions through the rest of the day.
