New York, NY – The National Weather Service in New York City has issued a Wind Advisory from noon to midnight Friday, warning of west winds between 20 and 30 mph and gusts up to 45–50 mph across the New York City metro area, Long Island, southern Connecticut, and northeast New Jersey.

According to the NWS, the strongest winds are expected Friday afternoon and evening, coinciding with peak Halloween activity. Gusts could blow around outdoor decorations, bring down small tree limbs, and cause isolated power outages, particularly in coastal and elevated areas.

Areas under the advisory include Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, along with Fairfield and New Haven in Connecticut, and Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson Counties in New Jersey.

Drivers, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and exposed highways. Residents should secure outdoor decorations and lightweight objects before winds increase by midday.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve after midnight, with lighter winds returning by early Saturday morning.
