Mount Holly, N.J. – Sweltering heat is returning to the Mid-Atlantic today, with widespread 90-degree highs expected across New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and parts of Delaware by late afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, this will likely be the first 90° day of the year for many inland areas, with temperatures reaching 92°F in Trenton, Toms River, and Philadelphia. The heat will dominate under mostly sunny skies, though a few isolated storms may pop up across eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey this afternoon.

City-specific highs include 90°F in Vineland and Easton, 91°F in Wilmington, 90°F in Dover, and 92°F in Trenton. Cooler relief remains limited to the coast, with highs in the lower 80s for Cape May and Bethany Beach. A pocket of storm activity could develop late-day near Reading, Allentown, and Morristown, but most areas will stay dry.

Residents should limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers may open in some cities if temperatures remain elevated through the week.

Temperatures are expected to drop slightly as cloudier, showery days move in by Thursday. Additional updates and advisories may follow as the pattern shifts.
