Philadelphia, PA – A surge of Arctic air settles over eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey today before briefly lifting on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. Highs today will reach only the upper 20s to lower 30s, with temperatures moderating into the 40s Tuesday for much of the region.

According to forecasters, a developing low-pressure system will move into the Mid-Atlantic on Wednesday, bringing rain and snow, with snowfall most likely north of I-78 and mixed precipitation possible down to the I-95 corridor, including Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington. Farther south, rain appears more likely.

For Wednesday, 1–2 inches of snow is possible across the southern Poconos and northern New Jersey, especially in higher elevations. Less than an inch is expected near the Lehigh Valley.

Temperatures Wednesday night through late week turn sharply colder again as a second push of Arctic air arrives. Lows Thursday and Friday will fall into the teens and low 20s, with highs struggling to break the low to mid-30s.

Travel impacts will depend heavily on the exact rain/snow line, which forecasters note could shift as the system approaches. Commuters north of I-78 should prepare for slick conditions Wednesday morning.
