Mount Holly, NJ – Drought conditions continue to impact New Jersey, though some improvement has been noted, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor update. While moderate (D1) or worse drought remains widespread, the percentage of extreme drought (D3) across the state has dropped below 20% for the first time since November 5, 2024.
According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, the most severe drought conditions persist in southern and central parts of the state. However, recent precipitation has contributed to minor relief in some areas. The latest data shows that 91.0% of the state remains in at least moderate drought, with 47.8% still experiencing severe drought (D2).
More rain is expected tonight, which could further ease dry conditions. Officials continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to conserve water where possible. For the latest updates, visit droughtmonitor.unl.edu.
