Philadelphia, Pa. – Coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents are the main threats Wednesday along the Jersey Shore and Delaware Beaches as cloudy skies and spotty showers linger across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday as minor tidal flooding is expected during times of high tide. The agency also warns of a high risk for rip currents, making ocean conditions dangerous for swimmers at beaches from Cape May to Rehoboth.
Communities including Atlantic City, Wildwood, and Lewes could see minor roadway flooding in low-lying areas and near back bays during high tide cycles. Beach patrols are urging swimmers to stay out of the surf, as rip currents can quickly pull even experienced swimmers offshore.
Travelers should use caution near shore roads that often flood during tidal surges. Residents are advised to move vehicles from flood-prone streets and remain alert for rising water around back bays and marshes.
Clouds and occasional sprinkles are expected to persist through the day, keeping highs in the low to mid-70s. Conditions should gradually improve Thursday, though coastal flooding may still return at high tide.
