Barnegat Bay, NJ – While the worst of the tidal flooding has passed, forecasters warn that minor coastal flooding will continue through upcoming high tide cycles along parts of the New Jersey and Delaware coastlines, according to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly.
A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, where water levels are expected to rise again with the next high tide late Monday night. Forecasters say back bays and tidal inlets will be slow to drain, keeping water elevated for the next several cycles.
Moderate flooding remains possible around Barnegat Bay, while minor flooding may continue near Little Assawoman Bay and Rehoboth Bay in Delaware.
A Coastal Flood Advisory is also in effect through Tuesday evening for widespread minor flooding in bayside and back bay communities. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads or around barricades.
Forecasters note that conditions should gradually improve by midweek as tides return closer to normal levels.
