Philadelphia, PA – A slow-moving front is bringing widespread rainfall across the Mid-Atlantic Saturday, with the heaviest downpours targeting New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Maryland. Some areas could pick up more than an inch of rain by tonight, leading to slick roads and localized ponding.
According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, showers will continue through Saturday before tapering off for most inland areas by Sunday morning. Rain will linger along the coastline into Sunday afternoon, especially near the Jersey Shore and coastal Delaware.
The wettest stretch is expected along the I-95 corridor from Wilmington to Trenton, where drivers may face reduced visibility and standing water in low-lying areas. In Maryland, heavier bands are expected east of Baltimore, particularly in Cecil and Kent counties. While minor river and creek rises are possible, recent dry conditions mean significant flooding is not expected.
Travelers are urged to allow extra time and avoid driving through flooded intersections. Conditions should improve for commuters by Monday, with drier, more stable weather settling across the region through much of next week.
