Philadelphia, PA – Gusty northeast winds are expected to create hazardous conditions across the Mid-Atlantic coast today, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a series of advisories for flooding and marine impacts.
According to the NWS Mount Holly office, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic coast, Delaware Bay, and tidal Delaware River this afternoon and evening. Forecasters warn that minor flooding is likely during high tide, with vulnerable roadways and low-lying areas at risk. The advisory runs through Thursday, October 2, at 8 a.m.
For mariners, conditions will be especially dangerous. A Gale Warning is in effect for ocean waters off New Jersey and Delaware, where gusts could reach 35 to 40 knots. The Delaware Bay is under a Small Craft Advisory, with rough seas expected.
Flood-prone areas in Cape May, Atlantic City, Long Branch, Barnegat, Reedy Point, and Wilmington are highlighted for minor to spotty flooding, especially during the evening tide cycle.
Officials urge drivers in coastal communities to use caution during high tide and remind boaters to avoid venturing out until conditions improve.
