At about 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Trooper Nathan Cobis of Troop E attempted to stop a 2013 Ford Taurus driven by Patrick Cameron Hamel, 19, of Gilmanton, for a tinted windows violation on Route 104 westbound in Meredith, near the New Hampton town line.
Police said Hamel allegedly accelerated away at high speed, illegally passing other vehicles before losing control of the car and crashing into a home on Shoreline Drive in New Hampton. The home was unoccupied, but the crash caused significant damage to the property and vehicle. Hamel was arrested and transported to the New Hampton Police Department for processing.
According to state police, Hamel was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, reckless operation, conduct after an accident, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal restraint, and disobeying a police officer. He was held in preventive detention and is scheduled to appear in Laconia District Court on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
