Concord, NH – A blast of Arctic air is poised to sweep across New Hampshire early next week, ending the state’s mild start to November with the season’s first hard freeze. According to the NOAA Weather Prediction Center, the cold front will surge east on Monday, November 10, bringing a dramatic temperature drop and widespread subfreezing conditions overnight.

Lows are forecast to range from the upper teens in the North Country to the low and mid-20s in central and southern valleys, with single-digit wind chills possible across higher terrain. The front will arrive Monday afternoon, ushering in gusty northwest winds up to 30 mph and sharply cooler air by evening.

The Weather Prediction Center’s Day 3–7 Hazards Outlook highlights New Hampshire within a broad “Frost/Freeze” zone spanning from the Great Lakes through New England, with the coldest readings expected early Tuesday morning, November 11.

Forecasters say the combination of clear skies and light winds behind the front will allow for efficient cooling, setting up widespread frost and a hard freeze across much of the state. The National Weather Service is urging residents to protect pipes, bring pets indoors, and safeguard any sensitive vegetation still outdoors.

Daytime highs Tuesday are expected to struggle to reach the mid-30s, making it one of the coldest days so far this season. Slight moderation is likely midweek, though below-normal temperatures will linger through at least Thursday.
