Manchester, NH – Loose holiday decorations could end up down the street Friday as strong south winds whip across New Hampshire and large parts of Maine during the day.
According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday for portions of southern and western Maine and central, northern, and southern New Hampshire. Sustained south winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts up to 50 mph.
In New Hampshire, the strongest gusts may make travel tricky for high-profile vehicles on routes like I-93 and I-95, especially in open areas and on elevated stretches. In Maine, drivers should also be ready for crosswinds on the Maine Turnpike and coastal roads, with a few downed limbs and isolated power outages possible.
Manchester’s stretch turns milder and wet Friday with breezy conditions, then colder air settles in for the weekend. Looking ahead, the midweek pattern currently leans quieter around Christmas Eve, with no major hazards showing in the latest outlook.
