Manchester, N.H. – Rain is on the move again in southern New Hampshire, with showers expected to dampen roads and visibility starting early Thursday and persisting into the weekend. Patchy fog could further complicate the Thursday morning commute in Manchester and surrounding areas, and an extended stretch of wet weather will continue through Saturday, possibly affecting travel on I-293 and Route 101.
According to the National Weather Service, light rain is expected to begin Thursday morning after 2 a.m. in Manchester with a 40% chance of precipitation and patchy fog lingering before 7 a.m. Calm winds and a high near 68°F are forecast by afternoon. Conditions dry slightly Thursday night before showers return Friday afternoon, increasing to a 60% chance by evening.
The rain builds through Saturday with a 70% chance of precipitation and highs near 72°F, making it the wettest day of the week. Early morning and evening drivers should be cautious as visibility and traction may be reduced.
Drivers are urged to slow down, especially on elevated roadways and overpasses like those on Route 3A and I-93. Visibility could drop rapidly during fog events, and pooling water may develop by Friday night.
Looking ahead, conditions improve slightly Sunday with only a 40% chance of showers and partly sunny skies. Next week kicks off cooler, with highs in the mid-60s Monday and a return to dry, spring-like weather by Tuesday.
Showers are likely through Saturday night. Stay weather-aware and check for updates from the National Weather Service and New Hampshire DOT.
