Manchester, N.H. – New Hampshire drivers and outdoor planners should prepare for a sharp weather shift as summer-like warmth gives way to late-week storms. Sunshine dominates Thursday, but showers and thunderstorms could complicate weekend travel and events, especially along I-93 through Manchester.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, Thursday brings a high near 81 degrees under sunny skies with light winds. The calm stretch ends Thursday night when a 40% chance of showers moves into southern New Hampshire. Rain becomes more widespread Friday into Saturday, with storm chances peaking Saturday afternoon.

Communities including Manchester, Hooksett, and Derry may see downpours and thunderstorms that could affect outdoor events, football games, and regional travel. The NWS says precipitation chances rise to 60% Saturday night, with lingering showers likely into Sunday morning. Drivers should avoid flooded roadways, check headlights, and allow extra travel time if storms hit during peak hours.

Despite the unsettled pattern, temperatures remain seasonable. Highs stay in the low to mid-80s through Saturday before dipping into the 70s by early next week. Calm nights will bring cooler lows in the 50s, giving the area its first stronger taste of early fall.

Rain chances ease Sunday afternoon, followed by a dry and sunny stretch into Monday and Tuesday. More advisories may be issued if Saturday storms strengthen.
