New Hampshire – Pale sunlight breaks through cold morning air across Manchester, while frost clings to parked cars and rooftops. Temperatures hover near 30°F early, but a quick warmup begins today as March weather shifts gears.
According to the National Weather Service, skies turn partly sunny through the morning with highs reaching around 41°F. Winds remain light, but clouds gradually increase late in the day as the next weather system approaches New England.
Conditions begin changing tonight as moisture pushes north. Rain develops toward early morning hours with around a 30 percent chance initially, then steadier showers arrive as Monday begins. Drivers along Interstate 93, Route 3, and I-293 through Manchester should prepare for slick pavement and reduced visibility during the morning commute.
The warmest air arrives Monday afternoon. Temperatures climb near 59°F, unusually mild for mid-March in southern New Hampshire. Rain becomes widespread, and occasional downpours may develop during the afternoon and evening.
Winds also strengthen during the day. Gusts could reach 35 mph, especially in open areas and along elevated highways. Wet roads and gusty crosswinds may slow traffic through downtown Manchester and surrounding communities including Bedford, Hooksett, and Londonderry.
Colder air returns quickly after the rain moves out. Temperatures drop toward 36°F Monday night, and lingering moisture may leave isolated slick spots by early Tuesday morning.
St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday brings a quieter pattern. Sunshine gradually returns with highs near 43°F, though a brisk west wind keeps the air feeling cooler.
Midweek stays bright but chilly with highs in the upper 30s Wednesday before moderating again Thursday. Longer-range signals show above-normal temperatures developing later next week, hinting that spring warmth may finally begin gaining ground across New Hampshire.
