Manchester, NH – Residents should prepare for dangerous heat Monday as temperatures climb to around 95°F, with hotter conditions expected into midweek. Light southwest breezes will offer little relief as heat indices approach triple digits by Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday’s heat marks the beginning of a multi-day stretch of extreme summer temperatures for southern New Hampshire. Tuesday will likely be the hottest day, with highs near 97°F and humidity pushing the “feels-like” temperature well over 100°F. This heat can be especially dangerous for vulnerable groups, including seniors, children, and outdoor workers.

City cooling centers are expected to operate Monday and Tuesday. Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors without air conditioning. Those planning to travel should remember that vehicle interiors can become life-threateningly hot within minutes.

The heat will ease slightly by Thursday but remain above average through the week. More updates will follow if excessive heat warnings are issued.
