Concord, NH – The first major arctic blast of the season is expected to move into New Hampshire beginning Saturday, November 30, plunging the Granite State into winter-like cold through the first week of December.

According to the National Weather Service, a strong arctic front will push south from Canada, dropping temperatures well below seasonal averages across northern New England. Forecast models from the Climate Prediction Center show a 50–70% probability of below-normal temperatures for the region, with single-digit lows and subzero wind chills likely in northern areas.

Drivers along I-93 should be prepared for icy travel conditions, particularly during early morning commutes Monday and Tuesday. Forecasters warn that gusty winds could lead to blowing snow and limited visibility in open areas north of Concord, while southern portions of the interstate may see frost and slick patches.

This marks the first significant cold outbreak of the season, signaling a fast transition into winter weather across the northern U.S. Meanwhile, the southern and southeastern states are forecast to remain warmer than average, creating a sharp contrast from the Arctic conditions gripping the Northeast.

Residents are urged to bundle up, check heating systems, and take precautions when traveling during the early December freeze.
