New Hampshire – Gray clouds hang low over Manchester this morning while cold air lingers across southern New Hampshire, setting the stage for a messy round of late-winter weather later today.

Road crews and commuters are already watching conditions closely as temperatures sit near 23°F, cold enough for snow and ice once precipitation arrives.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, a Winter Weather Advisory begins this evening and continues until 1 p.m. Friday for much of southern New Hampshire. The system will bring snow changing to sleet and rain, with total snow and sleet accumulations up to 3 inches and ice around 0.10 inch possible.

Snow develops later today and becomes steadier into the evening across Manchester, Nashua, and surrounding Hillsborough County communities. Roads along I-93, I-293, and Route 3 could quickly become slushy and slick once precipitation begins.

As temperatures slowly rise overnight, the snow may mix with sleet and freezing rain before transitioning to rain toward morning. Untreated side streets and bridges will remain the biggest concern.

Meteorologists warn the Friday morning commute could be the most difficult period, especially before temperatures climb above freezing.

By Friday afternoon the system weakens, leaving behind cloudy skies and temperatures near 34°F.

The weather pattern improves heading into the weekend. Saturday stays cloudy but milder with highs near 49°F across southern New Hampshire.

Sunday brings brighter skies and temperatures near 54°F, offering a welcome taste of spring.

Early Sunday morning also marks the Daylight Saving Time change, when clocks jump forward at 2 a.m., bringing longer evenings of daylight throughout March.

Even warmer air arrives early next week. Sunshine Monday could push highs near 59°F, and midweek temperatures may climb into the mid-60s across the region.

For now, plan extra travel time tonight and early Friday as snow and sleet move into southern New Hampshire.
